Eric and I stayed up late last night, watching the video streaming from the Jet Propulsion Laboratory. There was something really powerful and heartening about seeing the result of all of these people working together over time to complete a task that one scientist suggested was the equivalent of hitting a hole-in-one from Tokyo to Paris. This group of engineers and scientists have worked for years on the project, and had many failures along the way. But they kept at it, and now this really rather small, fairly complex piece of machinery is sending back pictures for us to ponder. I wish, I hope, that seeing these kinds of images might help us remember the enormity of the universe God has created! Perhaps in pondering creation we might come to view our own small parts in it with more humility...
