Cultural protest
Hurray for the
hundreds of thousands of people who walked in Washington, DC and all around the world yesterday, protesting the war in Iraq! And huge thanks to the artists who are using the net (as the
NYTimes has finally noticed) to share cultural materials that protest our government's crass racism and classism. A rap artist named Legendary KO, with the help of a video artist, has created
a short video combining the rap and a number of images from Katrina. It's definitely worth taking a look at. Franklin Lopez has done
another version of it, using his creativity with a different set of images. Now these music videos are spreading across the Net with such speed that even the Times has seen fit to comment.
What else might we do with our God-given creativity to wake people up and walk with the poor in this country?
