MRC Project
David Morgan just sent me a note pointing to the establishment of a new organization, the
Media, Religion and Culture Project:
"a not-for-profit enterprise dedicated to promoting excellence in the academic study of media, religion, and culture around the world. Governed by a board of directors who are themselves academic researchers in this field, the project focuses on four areas of activity:
- awarding and managing fellowships in the doctoral study of media and religion
- consulting and supporting the biennial international Conference on Media, Religion, and Culture
- organizing and directing annual seminars of invited participants who meet to discuss themes in research
- undertaking special projects that will advance research agendas or provide financial or intellectual resources where the board determines support is needful
Given that I know -- and deeply respect -- all of the members of the board of this new organization, I'm excited and look forward to seeing its work unfold.
